Shiite militia seizes control of Turkmens' village

The Iraqi pro-government Shiite militia of al-Hashid al-Shabi seized control of Beshir village south of Kirkuk province Wednesday.

The Anadolu Agency’s correspondent in the area reported that the Shiite militia seized the Turkmens’ village, located 25 kilometers south of Kirkuk, in their second military operation against ISIL in the area.

The militia used heavy weapons belonging to the peshmerga Kurdish forces and is advancing cautiously because of roadside bombs and ISIL snipers.

Meanwhile, peshmerga forces seized control of Uzariya village in the Daquq area.

ISIL has lost control of 31 villages and three towns in Kirkuk since peshmerga forces and Shiite militias launched military operations in the area last week.
