A suspect has been arrested in connection with a bomb attack on the US consulate in Erbil, near a Turkish run cafe.

 A suspect has been arrested in connection with the suicide bomb attack on the U.S. consulate in Erbil on Friday in which two Turkish citizens were killed, the Kurdish Regional Government's Security Agency has announced.

No more details were disclosed by the agency on Monday, three days after the blast in the northern Iraqi Kurdish region also left eight people injured, including five Turks.

"The investigation about the captured terrorist is ongoing. We will share details about terrorist attack after legal process," the agency said a statement.

The attack took place in front of the Nili cafeteria, which was run by Turks and used mainly visited by foreign nationals.

The cafe, 30 shops and 12 vehicles were damaged in the blast.
