The British Muslim community has demanded urgent action agaisnt invasions being made by fascist groups who are continuously raiding mosques across the UK to hand out racist leaflets and intimidate worshippers.
“People are fed up,” Luton Central Mosque president Mohammed Shafait told the Morning Star on Wednesday, June 18.
“He is going around all over the country abusing people.”
Mosques in London, Bradford and Glasgow have been invaded by Members of far-right Britain First party where they were handing out Christian leaflets and bibles.
According to representatives of Britain First, an offshoot of the British National party which is contesting this month's local and European elections, mosque visits were part of a "Christian crusade" campaign against Islam.
After Paul Golding, the leader of fascist Britain First and former British National Party councilor, released a new video online forcing his way into mosques to hand out racist leaflets and Bibles to intimidate worshipers, Shafait’s anger maximized.
“I say he’s the one who is a terrorist”, argued Shafait in response to the video’s description of the 40,000-strong Muslim community as “Luton extremists”.
The attacks were also condemned by anti-fascist group Hope Not Hate spokesman Simon Cressy as “disgusting”
“It’s pretty disgusting,” Cressy said.
“They are intending to whip up racial and religious hatred,” he added.
Urging an urgent action, the Luton mosque president has lamented that the police has been called several times but no action was taken.
“I don’t want anyone to take the law into their own hands,” he added in despair.
“It doesn’t matter who you are — Muslim, Christian, all faiths — stay within the law,” urged Shafait.
“This guy doesn’t — he makes a video then he shows to other party members that he is doing this. He is a terrorist. He’s a coward.”
Britain is home to an estimated Muslim minority of nearly two million.
A Financial Times opinion poll showed that Britain is the most suspicious nation about Muslims.Last Mod: 19 Haziran 2014, 12:46
