An investigation in India has revealed that the destruction of the historic Babur Mosque in the Uttar-Pradesh state's Ayota city on December 5, 1992 was in fact a planned event.
Until today, the destruction of the mosque was believed to be a consquence of riots that broke out in the city at the time. However, India's Cobrapost has revealed that the riots were actually intentionally initiated in order to open the way for the mosque's demolition.
Planned by the Ram Janambumi group months beforehand, attempts to provoke the police into lashing out at protesters around the mosque were made in a conspiracy to destroy the 430-year-old site.
As it was planned, upon the death of a handful of protesters, riots grew out of control and the mosque was burnt down in the process.Last Mod: 05 Nisan 2014, 16:18
