Indonesia has joined the growing list of Muslim countries to ban the latest Hollywood blockbuster ‘Noah’, which is based on the biblical version of the prophet's story.

The film has been banned in many Muslim countries due to it contradicting Islamic values, as Islam discourages depicting prophets. Noah is also one of the most important prophets in Islam.

Zainut Tauhid Saadi, a member of the Indonesian Censorship Board, cited that the film would hurt both Christian and Muslim communities in the country.

Qatar, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates have already banned the film, which features actor Russel Crowe as Noah. Egyptian scholars have also called for it to be banned.

A number of Christian groups in the US have also complained that the movie portrays the prophet Noah in an unconventional manner.
