The world famous American comic book publisher Marvel is introducing a new character to their editions known as Kamala Khan, a 16-year-old daughter of Pakistani migrants in Jersey city.
Marvel Editor-In-Chief Axel Alonso tolds reporters '(Kamala) 's a 16-year-old girl from the suburbs who is trying to figure out who she is and trying to forge an identity when she suddenly bestows great power and learns the great responsibility that comes with it.'
The character is believed to be a recreation of the 1977 superhero Ms. Marvel, except with a new Muslim twist.
It is said that the character is being introduced to cater of a wider, more diverse audience. This follows the invention of Simon Baz, an Arab-American Muslim character who was introduced by DC Comics three years ago, as well as Nightrunner, based on a young Algerian from Paris.
Since then, Marvel Comics has also introduced Dust, a young Afghan woman with the mutant ability to manipulate sand and dust.Last Mod: 06 Kasım 2013, 12:22
