A Turkish pilgrim died of a heart attack in Medina airport, Saudi Arabia, after waiting more than 24 hours for his delayed flight to Turkey.

Ali Osman Agat, 70, died in hospital after he suffered from a heart attack at the Medina airport, Turkey's consul in Jeddah said.

More than 400 people are still waiting in Medina and Jeddah airports due to delays of Saudi Airlines flights.

On Friday, dense fog over the Iranian city of Mashhad blocked a Saudi Airlines plane from landing at the local airport, causing the subsequent delays.

1,700 Turkish passengers have been stuck at the airports of Medina and Jeddah due to delayed flights.
