Ieronymos II, the Archbishop of Athens and all Greece, has asked not to rush for the building of a mosque in Athens until it was clear how many refugees remained in the capital.
Speaking on nationwide television, Archbishop Ieronimos said, "We should not hurry. Who are we going to do with the camii? What will these people do? Will it be worship, or will they be recruiting centers for fundamentalist groups"while noting that Greece was becoming ''less Christian and Greek''.
Indicating that there must be clarity, he said, "the situation of the Muslims in the country can be delayed until it is clear. If they stay here they have rights. However, what is needed is temporary. We will not do anything. "
