Clashes have gripped Rio de Janeiro as hundreds of Brazilians battled it out with police over rising public transport fees.

Tear gas was fired to disperse the stone-throwing crowds in rush hour, leaving six injured, including a cameraman who suffered a serious head injury.

Protests have been ongoing since May 2013 when the price hike was announced.
