Colombia probes murder of four at Venezuela crossing

Colombian authorities are investigating the killing of four citizens in a gunfight at a crossing point on the Venezuela border, likely a clash between rival smuggling gangs, police said Saturday.

The clash happened at an unofficial border crossing that connects the Colombian town of Villa de Rosario with San Antonio de Tachira in Venezuela, he said.

The "most probable" reason for the confrontation was a fight between rival gangs looking to get a cut of the fuel-smuggling business across the border, Arango said.

Two vehicles loaded with gasoline coming from Venezuela were found at the scene.
