The Tungurahua volcano just outside of the Ecuadorian capital Quito has erupted, sending a plume of ash up to 10 kilometers into the sky.

The eruption on Friday lasted for about five minutes. Although it has erupted a number of times since 1999, it has particularly been active for the past two months.

It is one of eight active volcanoes in the Latin American country, which lies on the Pacific 'Ring of Fire.'
