Al-Jazeera TV channel's Ankara correspondent, Omar Hashram, has been taken under medical treatment in the south-eastern province of Gaziantep after getting wounded in Syria's Aleppo city.

Hashram is currently under treatment at the Gaziantep Private Sani Konukoglu Hospital after receiving medical treatment at the State Hospital of Kilis province.

Doctors in Gaziantep have found four shrapnel pieces on Hashram's body.

Three of the shrapnel pieces were removed in a surgery. Doctors are trying to remove the fourth shrapnel piece.

Speaking to the Anadolu Agency (AA), Director General of Sani Konukoglu Hospital, Dr. Yusuf Ziya Yildirim said that Hashram was in a serious condition with life threatening wounds.

Yildirim said that Hashram's conscious was open and he was able to answer questions.
