I STAND UP TO GENERAL AMNESTY
Speaking to TGRT Haber TV, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, "I cannot ignore the cries of mothers of soldiers (who were killed in fight against terrorists) just because I have an authority to proclaim general amnesty." He said, "if you go after ideology, you cannot reach success. Speaking about general amnesty for a crime of thought is one thing, and an amnesty for terrorists is another thing."

BESIKTAS MADE US HAPPY
Besiktas defeated Finland's HJK Helsinki 4-0 in an away game in the second leg of play-off round in UEFA Europa League. Besiktas had beaten Helsinki in the first match 2-0 too. Besiktas was qualified for groups. Turkey's other three representatives in UEFA became a disappointment. Trabzonspor was defeated by Liverpool 2-1 in Trabzon, Fenerbahce drew 1-1 with Greek PAOK in Istanbul, and Galatasaray also drew 1-1 with Ukraine's Karpaty in an away game, and they were all eliminated.

"GENERAL AMNESTY" CRACK IN "NO" FRONT
Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) chairman Devlet Bahceli strongly reacted to the statement of Republican People's Party (CHP) chairman Kemal Kilicdaroglu that his party will ask for general amnesty in case "no" vote is given in the referendum.
"Everybody should know his place," Bahceli said and defended that speaking about general amnesty was inattention.
Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) deputy Nuri Yaman supported call of Kilicdaroglu and said this stance of CHP was important for the solution of Kurdish problem.

POLICE NOT TO DO MILITARY SERVICE
Interior Minister Besir Atalay said a study was underway in General Staff that policemen will not do military service.
Atalay said, "law for the police regarding military service will definitely be issued. As it is the profession of police, there is no need for them to do military service."
Atalay said university graduate 10,000 people will be recruited as policemen.

EAGLES FLEW TO TOUR
Besiktas soccer team was the guest of Helsinki in the second leg of the match which Besiktas defeated 2-0 in Istanbul's Inonu Stadium. Besiktas scored four goals. Quaresma scored the first goal and Guti the second. Goals of Necip and Holosko followed them.

LANDSLIDE DISASTER
Five people died in flood and landslide which occurred following the torrential rains in Gundogdu hamlet in Black Sea province of Rize. Ways of communication collapsed and it is feared that death toll may rise.

KING PROTECTS FUGITIVE UZAN
Hanefi Avci, in his book "Halicte Yasayan Simonlar", said Jordanian King Abdullah protected Hakan Uzan who had been searched by Turkey for 7 years.
Avci relayed how they followed fugitive Uzans while he was administering Smuggling and Organized Crimes Department.
He said, "we learned that they set up headquarters in Jordan. He gave automobile and weapons to King as present and paid millions of dollars without any reason. Uzans had established joint companies with every prominent family or tribe in Jordan. They had formed different relationships with ministers and executives of foreign ministry, parliament, military and intelligence institutions. Jordan, which we could reach, despite all our efforts, continues to be headquarters of Uzans."

TETE-A-TETE WITH THE COMMANDER
Chief of General Staff Gen. Ilker Basbug, whose term in office will expire on August 30, paid a farewell visit to Kemal Kilicdaroglu, the chairman of the Republican People's Party (CHP) on Thursday.
The tete-a-tete meeting lasted for 1.5 hours.
Gen. Basbug will pay a visit to headquarters of Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) today. Former chiefs of general staff Ozkok and Buyukanit had paid visits to CHP but did not visit MHP.

FLOOD IN RIZE CLAIMS LIVES
A ten-year old child was dragged into flood waters due to torrential rains and died in Gundogdu hamlet of the northern province of Rize. Also several citizens were reported missing. Three people, who were trapped under debris in a landslide in the region, were rescued but their condition were serious. Also one person died in a car which overturned in a river.

PRESIDENCY INTERFERES SHADY TEST
Cankaya Presidential Palace took action upon fraud allegations in Public Personnel Selection Exam (KPSS). President Abdullah Gul gave directions to State Inspection Board to examine the claims.

ALONE IN EUROPE
Three of the four Turkish teams, endeavoring to qualify for Europe league, were disappointed. Although Trabzonspor scored one goal at the beginning, it could not stop 2 goals of Liverpool and was eliminated. Galatasaray scored the goal at the 90th minute but was disappointed at the 92nd minute. Fenerbahce gave away a goal in the extra time. Besiktas was relaxed as it happened in the first match.

AND ZIRAAT WAS PASSED IN PROFITABILITY
Banking sector in Turkey announced a net profit of 11.7 billion Turkish lira in the first half of the year. Garanti Bankasi for the first time passed Ziraat Bankasi in profitability and became the leader of the first half.

Only Besiktas made us happy in UEFA Europa League play-off games yesterday. Black Eagle (Besiktas) defeated Finland's HJK Helsinki 4-0. Besiktas had also beaten HJK Helsinki 2-0 in the first game in Istanbul. Quaresma, Guti, Necip and Holosko scored the goals of Besiktas. Besiktas scored 5 victories and a draw in the 6 games it played, and qualified for groups.
Meanwhile, Turkish team Fenerbahce drew 1-1 with Greek PAOK in Istanbul, Galatasaray drew 1-1 with Ukraine's Karpaty in an away game, and Trabzonspor was defeated 2-1 by Liverpool in Trabzon.

THREE COMMANDERS APPLY COURT
Two major generals and a rear admiral --all suspects of Balyoz case-- who were not promoted in Supreme Military Council (YAS) applied to military high administrative court as their promotions were prevented due to baseless reasons.

Only Besiktas, one of Turkey's four representatives in UEFA Europa League, defeated its rival Helsinki 4-0. Fenerbahce, Galatasaray and Trabzonspor were defeated, and could not qualify for UEFA Europa League rounds.
Besiktas got the first leg of the match in Istanbul 2-0.

Gulseren Onanc, Chairperson of Association of Women Enterprises, said they preferred to be impartial during the referendum process. Commenting on statement of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan that, "those who are impartial will be eliminated," Onanc said, "this is a totalitarian statement".

FAMILY OPPOSES TO "FRIENDLY SOLUTION"
The family is not affirmative towards Turkey's searches for a "friendly solution" in Turkey's Dink case in the ECHR.
Fethiye Cetin, lawyer of the case, said this would not have a legal consequence.

9-MONTH MILITARY SERVICE FOR EVERY MAN
The new standard military arrangement foresees equal period of military service for every man. Each soldier will receive 45 days of weapon training.
Sabah reached the draft of the new military arrangement. The arrangement is bringing several changes which are like a revolution. According to the new model, every man --regardless of university graduate or not-- will make nine months of military service. Also, there will be no reserve officers. Following a 20-30 days of initial entry training, each soldier will receive 45 days of weapon training.

500,000 TL FOR 'CHARITY TRAIN'
Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TIM) launched an aid campaign for flood victims in Pakistan. TIM, at first, will donate one million TL. 500,000 TL of this amount will be transferred to the assistance campaign which was started by Sabah.
