ISRAEL GIVES UP
For the first time in its history, Israel agreed on a UN probe into a matter related to its soldiers. Now, Israel will give account on Mavi Marmara raid after accepting a UN inquiry into its attack on Turkish ship carrying aid to Gaza. The decision was announced by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who met Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, asked close monitoring of the issue.
FORMULA OF EXTENSION ON AGENDA
11th Heavy Penal Court has not made a decision on objections of 11 generals and admirals for whom another court had issued arrest warrants in Sledgehammer plan. So, Supreme Military Council could not promote these officers. If the court does not make a decision by the end of the council meeting, the council will extend their tour of duty.

SCREECH OF A MOTHER: THEY BREACHED MY TRUST
Families of seven soldiers killed by Turkish Armed Forces land mine in southeastern Turkey gathered in front of General Staff HQs. They protested discussions on promotions of responsible military staff for whom they have been expecting to be punished for over a year. Screech of Raziye Demirci, one of the mothers, explained very clearly the pain they were suffering.
"I raised my son so hardly. They breached my trust. They should quit if they cannot protect," she said.
ISRAEL AGREES ON INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE
Israel agreed on a UN committee to investigate the May 31 attack on Mavi Marmara which killed nine Turks. For the first time in its history, Israel has accepted a UN probe into its soldiers. Israeli decision is considered as a diplomatic victory of Turkey.

Israel bowed to pressure from Turkey and the international community. The Tel Aviv administration accepted to give account to an international panel for the raid on activists carrying aid to Gaza and the death of 9 people.
The Prime Ministry said in a statement that, its demands about the Mavi Marmara raid were met, adding however that it still demanded Israel to apologise and pay damages.
BALYOZ SUSPECTS PUT ON HOLD WITHOUT PROMOTION
In the second day of the Supreme Military Council meeting, important decisions were taken regarding military officers whose names are mentioned in the Balyoz probe.
The mandate of military officers about whom arrest warrants were issued under the Balyoz probe, were extended for one year without promotion.
Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan is claimed to have opposed to the promotion of Gen. Hasan Igsiz as Land Forces Commander. Meanwhile, Gen. Igsiz was called to testify under the internet memorandum probe.

HE WAS CALLED TO GIVE STATEMENT WHILE WAITING TO BE PROMOTED
1st Army Commander Gen. Hasan Igsiz who was expected to be promoted as the new commander of the Land Forces by the Supreme Military Council was shocked with news of an investigation about him. Gen. Igsiz and 18 military officers were called by the prosecutors to testify regarding "internet memorandum" allegations.
Igsiz learned the news while he was voting for the promotion of lieutenant generals and major generals, as full generals. General Staff Judge Advocate Brigadier General Hifzi Cubuklu along with two lieutenant generals and a lieutenant admiral were also called to testify.
Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan is claimed to have opposed to the promotion of 11 generals about whom arrest warrants were issued as well as promotion of Igsiz as the land forces commander. Both Erdogan's and President Abdullah Gul's signatures are required for promotion of Igsiz.
ISRAEL GIVES UP
Turkey's pressure regarding the Mavi Marmara raid bore fruit and Israel, for the first time in its history, gave consent to an international investigation, on charges brought against itself.
Following the raid which claimed the lives of 9 Turks, Turkey urged Israel to allow an international investigation, to make an official apology and pay damages. Israel refused. But the pressure of the U.S. and the UN bore fruits and the Tel Aviv administration had to backpedal.
U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon announced that the panel which would be headed by former New Zealand Prime Minister Geoffrey Palmer and outgoing Colombian President Alvaro Uribe, would submit its first report on September 15. The Panel will also have one Turkish and one Israeli member.

PROMOTION CHESS IN SUPREME MILITARY COUNCIL
A striking development took place on the second day of the meeting of Supreme Military Council, which is convening in a tense atmosphere because of the arrest warrants on Balyoz culprits who are waiting to get promoted: Ergenekon Prosecutor Zekeriya Oz launched an investigation on the "Internet Memorandum".
19 suspects including the 1st Army Commander General Hasan Igsiz, Lieutenant Admiral Mehmet Otuzbiroglu and Colonel Dursun Cicek were called to testify urgently, and five different locations were raided.

Israel gave consent in principle to an international investigation into the raid on the aid flotilla which claimed the lives of 9 Turks. The panel which will be headed by New Zealander and Colombian leaders, will also have one Turkish and one Israeli member.

GEN. IGSIZ CALLED TO TESTIFY IN ERGENEKON CASE
Gen. Hasan Igsiz, who is expected to become the new Land Forces Commander at this year's Supreme Military Council gathering, will give testimony as "suspect" in Ergenekon case. Prosecutor Zekeriya Oz called Gen. Igsiz together with 18 officers, some of whom are retired, including Colonel Dursun Cicek on claims over a document which was allegedly signed also by Igsiz. According to the document, Colonel Cicek had set up internet sites to wear out the government. Cicek had said those sites were made for white propaganda.
UNEMPLOYMENT CAN MAKE YOU PROFESSOR!
This is the academic unemployment: the Board of Higher Education announced 2,000 new research associate positions for 41 newly-established universities. Record setting applications for these positions highlighted unemployment in the country. 3,000 people applied for 60 positions at Mus Alpaslan University, 2,250 people applied for 40 positions at Batman University. Universities in Karabuk, Bartin and Yalova received 10,000 applications each.

19 officers, including North Sea Field Commander Admiral Mehmet Otuzbiroglu, for whom an arrest warrant has been issued, and Colonel Dursun Cicek, were also called to testify. Police also searched five different places.
Prosecutor Oz had launched an investigation into claims that Colonel Cicek presented a memorandum to Gen. Igsiz in which he allegedly said he created internet sites in order to wear out the government.

Israeli government, which was trying to ward off international pressure regarding the deadly Mavi Marmara raid for a long time, has backpedaled two months after the raid.
Israel has decided to recognize a UN-led an international independent committee to investigate the raid occurred off Gaza. The committee will also include a Turkish member.

ISRAEL ACCEPTS INTERNATIONAL PANEL
Two months after the raid on Mavi Marmara the UN launched an international investigation with the consent of Israel. Israel was given guarantee that a lawsuit would not be filed against it at the Hague tribunal. Retired Ambassador Ozdem Sanberk is expected to represent Turkey in the four-member panel. Ankara welcomed the decision but said it still expected Israel to apologise and pay damages.

PKK terrorists, who attacked the Police Department in the Eruh town of Siirt, with rocket launchers later opened fire with long range weapons. In the ensuing skirmish, a special operations police officer was killed and three other police officers were wounded.

ISRAEL BOWS TO UN
Israel has accepted a UN investigation into Mavi Marmara attack. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu announced government decision that Israel agreed to accept a UN committee. Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu gave the news to Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan before Israel made it public. Turkey said its demands for an apology and compensation are still going on.
TWO NEW FULL GENERALS
Turkish military's new full generals have been named on the second day of the Supreme Military Council meeting. Lieutenant generals Yalcin Ataman and Servet Yoruk, two of 11 generals awaiting promotion, have become new full generals of the Turkish Armed Forces.
