EAT FRUITS INSTEAD OF DRINKING ALCOHOL
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, whose fight against smoking was awarded by the World Health Organization (WHO), suggested during the award ceremony that people should eat fruits instead of drinking alcohol.
Erdogan noted that drunk driving was forbidden, besides, people should act sensitively in order not to harm others with their smoking habits.
"Where does alcohol come from? Don't they produce these drinks from fruits? Eat fruits instead of drinking then," Erdogan said.

TURKS' OFFER WAS HUMANISTIC GESTURE
Former head of the Greek naval forces Andonis Andonyadis confirmed that Turkish TCG Yavuz ship had offered help for landing when a Greek helicopter had experienced technical problems and asked for emergency landing during the Kardak crisis in 1996. "That was a humanistic action," Andonyadis said.

MEMORIAL HOSPITALS ON SALE
A new investment will be made in health sector in Turkey. Partnership negotiations between British and Qatari investors and Memorial Health Group --which has five hospitals in Turkey-- were completed. Qatar-based investor group is on the stage of signing partnership agreement. Memorial belongs to Aydin's family who is working in textile business. Memorial's Director General Ugur Genc said, "we also held talks with British investors. Shares under 50 percent will be sold to them."

PROTECTION WITH ELECTRONIC EYE
Protection of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan was increased. "Electronic eye" --which will be installed in the leading vehicle in escort convoy of Erdogan-- can take pictures with six cameras from every angle. The electronic eye scans plates, faces and buildings, and warns the guards in case of a suspicious situation. The system cost nearly 60,000 Turkish lira.

CONSTITUTION WILL BE CHANGED FOR SURE
Turkey's 7th President Kenan Evren, who is the creator of the constitution of September 12, commented on referendum discussions. "Is the constitution we prepared a command from God? Actions are taken in line with the conditions and constitutions can be changed," Evren said.

RUSSIAN ORIGIN PKK TERRORIST IN GIRESUN
It has been revealed that one of the five terrorists who staged two bloody attacks in the Black Sea region is a Russian. Intelligence units determined the code names and real names of the five PKK terrorists who waged the attacks that killed 2 police officers and a soldier in Ladik town of northern province of Samsun and Dereli town of Giresun in April. One of the terrorists appeared to be Russian origin Daniel Dadaev with the code name Kava-Rus.

LAND MINE TRAP IN CUKURCA
PKK terrorists detonated a remote-control landmine while a civilian minibus --which was carrying soldiers to Uzumlu Military Guard Post near the border of north of Iraq-- was passing by in Cukurca town of the southeastern province of Hakkari. 11 soldiers and the driver of the minibus were wounded. The soldiers' condition is good. An operation was initiated in the region.

THEY SECRETLY RETURN TO MAKHMOUR
17 of the people (PKK members) --who made the major blow on Turkey's "democratic move" due to the welcoming scenes in Habur border gate-- secretly proceeded to the north of Iraq and returned to Makhmour camp. The group including four children illegally passed to the north of Iraq instead of using Habur border gate due to the lawsuits filed against them. Peace & Democracy Party (BDP) interpreted their return as "a symbolic message".

19 of 34 people --who came from Makhmour and Qandil camps to Turkey following the call of PKK terrorist organization's head Abdullah Ocalan and within the scope of "democratic move"-- returned to Makhmour. 11 soldiers and the driver were injured in an road-side land mine explosion which occurred while a civilian vehicle (carrying soldiers) was passing in Cukurca town of the southeastern province of Hakkari near Iraq border. Unmanned aerial vehicles made their first flight yesterday in a counter-terrorism operation over the border of north of Iraq and Mount Cudi.

UNANIMOUS VOTE FOR TRIAL
Two retired force commanders and 25 military officers will be tried on charge of attempting to stage a coup. The indictment on Balyoz, which is known as the most bloody coup plan ever, was accepted unanimously by the High Criminal Court no: 10 of Istanbul. Examining claims such as bombing of mosques and shooting down Turkish jets, the court ruled that 196 suspects, including retired force commanders, shall be tried for attempting to stage a military coup. 25 of the suspects are military officers on active duty.

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan commented on the smoking ban appeal, while receiving an award for "global fight against smoking" from the World Health Organization (WHO). "Constitutional Court will reach a beneficial ruling," Erdogan said.

Cetin Dogan is the top suspect in the Balyoz indictment approved by the High Criminal Court no: 10 of Istanbul. TRIPARTITE SUMMIT IN DAMASCUS
Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu paid a one-day visit to Damascus, Syria prior to the "Kabul Conference", the biggest gathering of the last 40 years which will be held today. Davutoglu held talks with Syria's President Bashar al-Asad, Lebanese Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri and former Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad al-Allawi as part of his visit.
