GAME FOR BALYOZ SUSPECTS PRIOR TO YAS MEETING
It has been claimed that a 3-stage plan is being prepared for Balyoz suspects prior to the Supreme Military Council (YAS) meeting. Accordingly, no one will be sent to prison until the YAS meeting ends, the decision will be appealed in an effort to save time, moreover, some military officers will be asked to get retired and some will be protected.

HE HAS "CYPRUS AND EU" IN HIS BRIEFCASE
British Prime Minister David Cameron arrived in Ankara as the official guest of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Cameron, who will start his formal talks today, is expected to focus mainly on Turkey's EU membership process and the negotiations in Cyprus during his talks in Turkey.

BALYOZ VISIT
The meeting between Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and General Staff Chief Gen. Ilker Basbug, who arrived at the prime ministry residence at 11:00 p.m. Sunday night, lasted till midnight. Sources claimed that Basbug had expressed his concern over the court's decision to issue an arrest warrant for 102 commanders as part of the Balyoz operation, as well as such decision's effect on the Supreme Military Council (YAS) meeting. In February, when the first detentions took place under the Balyoz operation, Deputy Premier Cemil Cicek had also gone to the General Staff HQ and held talks with commanders.

5 OBJECTIONS FROM COMMANDERS
74 of the 102 soldiers, for whom "arrest warrants" have been issued, applied to the court for the annulment of such decision. "Annul this unjust decision before we go to the European Court of Justice (ECHR)," the soldiers said.
The commanders said that they were not under the suspicion of escape, the arrest warrants were against the principles of ECHR, they were not fugitives, there was no new evidence, moreover, they recused the judge in charge of the case.

EUROLEAGUE TO FLY WITH TURKISH AIRLINES
Turkey's national air carrier Turkish Airlines, or THY, has reached a sponsorship agreement with Euroleague Basketball for a period of 10 years, 5 of which would be optional. Thus, the official name of the league would be "Turkish Airlines Euroleague Basketball" as of the beginning of the new season.

MADO TO OPEN 2,000 CAFES IN FAR EAST
Ice-cream producer in south-eastern province of Kahramanmaras, MADO, plans to open 2,000 cafes in the far east. Chairman of the Executive Board of MADO, Mehmet Kanbur, said that they have allocated 30 million USD as an investment budget. We will open cafes in Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong and South Korea, Kanbur said. "Our ultimate goal is to have cafes in 11 far eastern countries. There are 500 million people living in that region and we want to serve them Turkish ice-cream," Kanbur also said.

TENSE NIGHT IN INEGOL
An ordinary incident turned out to be an ethnic fight in Inegol town of the north-western province of Bursa. A quarrel started between a Kurdish driver and a group of men because of money issues. The driver and his friends were detained as they stabbed the other group. Around 5,000 people gathered in front of the police station and asked the police to give the driver and his friends to them. However, violence escalated as police turned the crowd down and hundreds of people broke store windows and burned police cars. 30 people, including 21 police officers, were injured in violent incidents. 44 people were detained.

FOUR OPTIONS FOR AKP
Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) is set to submit a bill on article 35 of the Internal Service Law of Turkish Armed Forces which lays a ground for military coup. CHP's move will bring four hard options for the ruling Justice & Development (AK) Party that are; to refuse the bill, to leave it after the referendum, to support it or to submit its own bill.

HISTORIC MESSAGES IN THE BRIEFCASE
British Prime Minister David Cameron, who arrived in Turkey on a formal visit yesterday, will say "he came to Turkey to defend the country's EU membership bid" during the speech he will deliver today.
Referring to a speech delivered by French General De Gaulle prior to Britain's joining the European Union, in which the general described the country as a state that could not be a full member to the union, Cameron will say "his country knows what it feels to be left outside". "But we also know things can change," he will add.

BALYOZ SUMMIT
Turkish General Staff Chief Gen. Ilker Basbug arrived at the prime ministry residence the other night, right after Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan came to Ankara from the eastern province of Malatya, and the two officials had a one-hour meeting. Prior to his gathering with Basbug, Prime Minister Erdogan also called Justice Minister Sadullah Ergin from southern Hatay province to the Turkish capital. Erdogan and Basbug's assessments on Balyoz operation and Article 35 were on the agenda of the prime minister's meeting with the justice minister.

NIGHT VISIT TO PM
Chief of General Staff Gen. Ilker Basbug went to Prime Minister's residence at 11:00 p.m. to meet him, as Turkey was talking about arrest warrants issued for a total of 102 military officers, both retired and on active duty, as part of Sledgehammer case. It was claimed that Basbug expressed uneasiness about arrest warrants issued even for commanders who are fighting terrorism and called "fugitive" in warrants.
Another interest thing happened that night while Erdogan and Basbug were at the meeting. Justice Minister Sadullah Ergin was making a speech at a meeting in southern province of Hatay. Ergin cut short his speech and left the hall when his aide gave him a note. Erdogan is thought to have a meeting with Ergin until 2:30 a.m. following the meeting with Basbug.

TENSION IN HATAY
Terrorists shot dead three police officers in Dortyol town of Hatay on Monday. One police officer was wounded in the attack on police car which was caught in a crossfire. Police launched an operation and apprehended three suspects who disobeyed stop warning and tried to run away. People in town thought that those three suspects were the terrorists who killed police officers. A crowd gathered in front of the police station. Police asked for help from the military as they failed to disperse the crowd. More than 100 soldiers fired their guns into the air as the crowd refused to scatter. In the meantime another group of 200 people set the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) building on fire.

STONE-THROWING CHILDREN FINALLY FREED
80 juveniles, who were arrested after illegal demonstrations and are known as "stone-throwing" children, are now being released from prison following an amendment in Counter-Terrorism Act. One of the children released on Monday, 15-year-old A.B., was hugged by his family. However, he said, "prison was good. I do not regret." Another juvenile, 16-year-old V.B. said he did not regret either.

GUTI FINALLY JOINS BESIKTAS
Besiktas brought world famous Real Madrid star Guti to Istanbul on Monday evening. Guti was greeted by a crowded group of 500 frenzied Besiktas fans at the Ataturk Airport. Guti posed to cameras with Besiktas jersey on him. Besiktas will organize a signing ceremony for Guti at Inonu Stadium. Guti will have to pay 5.4 million Euro if he leaves Istanbul side.

STRATEGIC VISIT
British Prime Minister David Cameron arrived in Ankara on Monday evening. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Cameron will sign a Strategic Partnership Document. Cameron said that the reforms to be made in Turkey will make it easier for Turkey to join the European Union (EU).

YAPI KREDI RECEIVES AWARD FOR PERFECTION
Turkish banks continue to work successfully and receive awards. Yapi Kredi was chosen as the most successful bank in Turkey in 2010. A financial publication, World Finance, gave Yapi Kredi an award for perfection in Turkey.
