Turkey's leading news agency Anadolu Agency (AA) has signed a cooperation agreement with Cuban news agency Prensa Latina.
Hilmi Bengi, director-general of AA, and Frank Gonzalez, president of Prensa Latina, signed the agreement in Ankara on Tuesday.
Under the agreement, AA and Prensa Latina will be able to exchange news stories.
Hilmi Bengi told the signing ceremony that he believes the agreement would help AA with its expansion in Latin America.
Bengi said two major agencies have made a "meaningful and significant start" and he expressed belief that cooperation between the two agencies would grow in the future.
Noting that AA had memberships in several international and regional unions and associations, Bengi said AA would celebrate its 90th anniversary at a meeting in Istanbul next November.
On his part, Frank Gonzalez described the agreement as a start which would create a lifelong friendship.
Gonzalez said Havana-based Prensa Latina was a self-financing news agency which runs news stories in seven languages including Turkish.
