TURKISH PRESS REVIEW ON FEB 8

Turkish dailies on Friday covered the aftermath of US Ambassador Ricciardone's statements, the go-cart accident killing a young girl and the new protocol between Turkish Ministry of Defence and Turkish Airlines (THY). The Anadolu Agency does not verify these stories and does not vouch for their accuracy.

Most of the Turkish dailies covered the warning of Undersecretary of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Feridun Sinirlioglu to US Ambassador to Turkey Francis Ricciardone following his harsh criticism of Turkey's internal affairs. "Speak less warning to his excellency" headlined daily SABAH referring to Sinirlioglu's warning of "These type of statements cannot be accepted, do not repeat it again" in their two-hour-long meeting at the Foreign Ministry.

Turkish dailies also covered the go-cart accident at a shopping center which resulted in the death of a 24-year-old young girl, Tugba Erdogan, in the north-western province of Sakarya. "Terror at go-cart track" headlined daily HURRIYET over the accident where the girl is claimed to have the seatbelt fastened over her neck, was driving extremely fast, hit the barriers and hence was decapitated.

Most dailies covered the protocol between the Turkish Ministry of Defense and Turkish Airlines. "Airports full with soldiers" headlined daily TURKIYE in regards to the protocol that enabled all soldiers to be taken to their places of duty by plane rather than long and tiring land travel. Soldiers discharged can also meet their families sooner and safer according to the daily.
