All Turkish dailies covered the celebrations of May 19, the beginning of Turkish War of Independence as well as the Commemoration of Ataturk Youth and Sports Day.

People's May 19th headlined daily HABERTURK where citizens flocked to Ataturk's Mausoleum in capital Ankara and to the streets to celebrate May 19 with joyful and colorful activities. Daily CUMHURIYET headlined "Citizens run to Ataturk's mausoleum" saying that thousands of people gathered to celebrate the Commemoration of Ataturk Youth and Sports Day across the country.      

Daily MILLIYET covered Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to Silicon Valley in San Francisco and quoted Erdogan as saying, "We wanted to see the latest developments in the information technology industry as well as seeing Silicon Valley, as we plan to create similar enterprise in Istanbul."      

Daily VATAN headlined "Erdogan in heart of technology" saying that the Turkish prime minister paid a visit to Microsoft, Apple and Google.      

Dailies also covered the plane crash during an airshow in Turkey's southern province of Adana on May 19 leaving its 60-year-old pilot Murat Ozturk dead. "Death flight" headlined daily AKSAM saying the accident occurred while the pilot was trying to perform a dive. Ozturk was also a cameraman who had worked as a news cameraman before starting his double career.
