Two Al-Qaeda members were killed and six others wounded early Saturday in clashes with Yemen army forces in Seiyun in the southern Yemeni province of Hadhramaut, an Al-Qaeda source said.
Two more Al-Qaeda members have gone missing following the clashes, according to the source.
Rebels had attacked several military and security facilities in the city.
A military source had told Anadolu Agency earlier that the Yemeni army had foiled an attack on the military command and government buildings in Seiyun.
Last month, a senior military leader from Hadhramaut had been killed by unidentified rebels.
Yemen has been dogged by turmoil since pro-democracy protests in 2011 forced autocratic president Ali Abdullah Saleh to step down after 33 years in power.
