The Syrian Institute for Justice has said that 2,500 barrel-bombs dropped by the Syrian regime have hit the northern Syrian city of Aleppo in the past 6 months killing 1,849 civilians, including 249 children and 519 women.
Syrian Local Coordination Committee spokesman Yasir Ahmed told Anadolu Agency that the data had been collected since February 22 and accused regime leader Bashar al-Assad of systematically destroying Aleppo by targeting markets and busy places.
He also said that 80% of historical sites in the city had been damaged and that many people had fled their homes, calling the use of barrel bombs a 'war crime.'
