Two home-made bombs were defused in the central province of Beni Sueif, provincial security chief Ibrahim Hudeib said in a statement.
An explosive charge was also defused near the Shebin al-Kom train station in the Nile Delta province of Menoufiya.
Egypt has been hit by a series of attacks in recent weeks.
Last week, at least six people were killed in three deadly bombings in capital Cairo. And last December, a security headquarters in the Nile Delta city of Mansoura was bombed, killing 16 people.
