Three prosecutors and their driver were killed on Saturday in an attack in the northern quadrant of the Sinai Peninsula in northeastern Egypt, security and medical sources have said.
"A terrorist group targeted a bus carrying a number of prosecutors in Arish city," Health Ministry official Tarek Khater told Anadolu Agency.
He added that the bus was on the way to a court in the North Sinai province city of al-Arish.
A security source, meanwhile, told Anadolu Agency that masked men opened fire on the car, killing three prosecutors and their driver.
Parts of Sinai have been lawless for months now, precipitating an army crackdown amid continuous militant attacks on army and security personnel since the mid-2013 ouster of elected President Mohamed Morsi by the military.
This is the first time judicial personnel have been attacked in Sinai.
