Almost half a million homes in northern Iran have been left without power after heavy snowfall cut the residents of the Mazandaran province off.
Around 2 meters of snow fell in the worst snow storms in the Caspian Sea region in 50 years. According to Iran’s Red Crescent, around 11,000 people had to be rescued after becoming stranded, while 3,800 people were put into shelters.
