Since the beginning of the crisis in Syria in March 2011, 83,598 people were killed as a result of attacks by the Assad regime.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said, since the start of the Syrian crisis in March 2011, 83,598 people lost their lives in attacks by Assad forces, among them 8,393 children and 7,686 women.
SOHR underlined that the number of dead, who were killed under torture was 2,441 and that the most civilian casualties were in the suburbs of Damascus, Homs, Aleppo and Idlib.
