Arab League Secretary-General Nabil al-Arabi left Cairo on Tuesday for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for a day-long visit.

While in the Gulf Arab country, al-Arabi is scheduled to attend a forum devoted to peace and security in the Middle East region.

His attendance to the event comes at the invitation of UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, according to Egyptian state news agency MENA.

A host of foreign ministers and prominent public figures are set to attend the event, which will tackle challenges to regional peace and security.

Al-Arabi will also take part in a forum on HIV/AIDS to review the Arab League's efforts to combat the disease, where he will receive an award for his previous efforts to combat AIDS.
