Arab League Secretary General Nabil Elaraby and UN-Arab League joint Syria envoy Lakhdar Brahimi on Sunday met in Cairo, the Egyptian capital.
Anadolu Agency sources said Elaraby and Brahimi had discussed a proposed meeting between Moaz al-Khatib, leader of the National Coalition for Opposition Forces and the Syrian Revolution, and Syrian Vice President Farouk Sharaa to initiate dialogue between the Syrian regime and rebels.
Sources said Brahimi was set to meet later today with Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr and he will gather on Monday with al-Khatib.
Brahimi is also expected to meet later next week with Egyptian President Mohamad Morsi and representatives of a contact group on Syria comprising Iran, Egypt, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.Last Mod: 10 Şubat 2013, 17:02
