Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has published a photo on his official Instagram profile posing with a Turkish Communist Party (TKP) slogan which was a common catchphrase in the summer anti-government Gezi protests in Turkey.
The photo with the flag with the slogan “Boyun Eğme”, which means Do Not Surrender, is believed to have been taken on Tuesday when Umut Kıraç from Turkish Communist Party (TKP) visited Assad as part of a delegation from the Women’s International Democratic Federation (WIDF).
Gezi Park protestors hung the flag with the same slogan in Istanbul’s Taksim Square during the uprising which swept the country in the summer. It also caused controversy when the German magazine Der Spiegel featured the slogan as a headline in its 10-page cover story about the protests.Last Mod: 23 Ekim 2013, 09:36
