Five people were injured in a stampede in Egypt’s coastal city of Alexandria after two homemade bombs went off in the city’s main train station, security and medical sources said.
“Five people were injured in the stampede when two homemade bombs went off – one in the vicinity of Sidi Gaber train station, and the second in a train carriage in the station,” a security source told Anadolu Agency on the condition of anonymity.
The Interior Ministry confirmed that five people sustained minor injuries after a homemade bomb went off in the station.
The explosion was the latest of a string of limited explosions that hit the country on Thursday, which marked the passage of one year since the ouster and subsequent imprisonment of elected president Mohamed Morsi by the military.
