Several people were killed and many wounded late on Monday when an explosive-laden vehicle blew up in the Syrian town of Darkush near Turkey, local sources told AA.

Renewed clashes have been reported following the shoot-out between the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and al-Qaeda-linked Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

Most of the injured were carried to medical centers in Darkush, with eight brought into the Turkish town of Hacipasa and taken to hospital in the province of Hatay.

300 Syrians reportedly fled the violence and came to Turkey over the town of Karbeyaz following the clash. They went back to their homeland shortly after the clashes died down in the part of the region where they live.

The explosion is said to have been heard in Turkish border towns.

Barrel bomb attacks kill 16 in Aleppo

At least 16 people including eight children were killed and more than 30 others were wounded during regime attacks by barrel bombs in Bezaa district of Aleppo, said Syrian Revolution General Commission (SRGC) on Monday.

Military helicopters attacked civilian areas by dropping barrel bombs over Bezaa district of Aleppo, said SRGC.

It was stated that 16 people were killed and more than 30 others wounded. The casualties included eight children.

Many buildings and roads were destroyed. After bombing of the helicopters, the regime jets launched rockets to the area too.
