Syrian parties released and used different numbers such as 88, 127 and 200 about death toll in the Rab'a massacre which took place on Saturday around Rab'a al-Adaweya Square.

The media spokesman of Rab'a field hospital Dr.Youssef Talaat, explaining the death toll reached 200 civilians at the first day of opening fire on pro-democracy supporters, underlined that this number was later corrected as 127 people.

Speaking to the AA reporter, Talaat said, "On the first day, we explained death toll as 200, but later we announced that identified 127 people were dead. Different numbers were released as heavy wounded people might be transferred to different hospitals and the relatives of patients might not be properly informed. After identifying the dead, we expect the death toll might be over 200."

Coordinator of Rab'a al-Adaweya field hospital Hisham Abdullah advocated that the contradiction in death toll resulted from health ministry's not updating dead numbers.

Muslim Brotherhood Organization (Ikhwan) reported 127 dead in the statement made at Rab'a Adaweya Square.

Egyptian Ministry of Health reported firstly 29 dead, but later said respectively 46, 60 and 72 people were killed.

Minister of Health and Population Maha El-Rabat held a press conference on Sunday evening and said 88 people were killed and 299 wounded during the events on Saturday around 'Unknown Soldier Memorial' in Nasr City, Cairo.

Rabat said, "Dead bodies are sent to Egyptian Forensic Medicine Institution to prepare death certificates after being counted", advocating there could be no suspicious results in death toll.
