A leading figure of the National Alliance for the Defense of Legitimacy said they will call for a boycott of the planned constitutional referendum and for a new revolution on the vote day.

"We will not participate in the referendum and will call for a new revolutionary wave on the referendum day," Mahmoud Fathi, chairman of the Salafist Fadilah Party and an alliance figure, wrote on his Facebook.

Fathi did not elaborate, however, whether the alliance, which is the main support bloc of ousted Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi, has officially decided on that.

On Wednesday, an alliance source told Anadolu Agency that the anti-coup bloc will decide on Monday whether or not it will take part in the planned referendum, expected in January.

On Sunday, interim President Adly Mansour received a finalized version of Egypt's amended 2012 constitution.

The referendum vote is a central pillar of an army-imposed roadmap for political transition following the July 3 ouster of elected Morsi.
