A Muslim Brotherhood leader on Saturday sent a cable of condolences to Egypt's Christian Pope Tawadros II, whose mother died a day earlier.
"I offer my sincerest condolences to the Pope of the Egyptian church Tawadros II over the death of his mother," Brotherhood leader and former minister Mohamed Ali Beshr said in the cable, a copy of which was obtained by Anadolu Agency.
Pope Tawadros' mother died in a hospital in the coastal city of Alexandria on Friday, having been bed-ridden for long.
Speaking to AA, Beshr said his letter to the Pope was about a "human attitude".
Relations between the Church and the Brotherhood, the movement from which ousted president Mohamed Morsi hails, went sore over what the movement considers as support offered by Pope Tawadros II for Morsi's ouster by the Egyptian military last July.
