An Egyptian court on Saturday slapped 34 supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi with two-year jail terms and a $130 fine each on violence charges.
The court also acquitted two more supporters of charges of involvement of violence during celebrations marking the 3rd anniversary of the January 25 revolution, which ousted autocrat Hosni Mubarak, a judicial source said.
The 36 defendants had not showed up during Saturday's session, having been released by prosecution before the case was referred to court.
Egyptian authorities have launched a harsh crackdown on the supporters of Morsi and his Muslim Brotherhood since his ouster by the military last July.Last Mod: 31 Mayıs 2014, 15:39
