An Egyptian court on Wednesday will rule on a lawsuit demanding that Egypt sever ties with neighboring Israel and ban all Egyptian activities in the country, according to the lawyer who filed the lawsuit.
"The lawsuit calls for the banning of all Israeli activities [in Egypt], shutting down its embassy and offices in Cairo and designating it a 'terrorist state'," Hamed Seddiq told Anadolu Agency on Tuesday.
In earlier statements to AA, Seddiq slammed Israel as "the real terrorists," accusing the self-proclaimed Jewish state of "killing Palestinians and Arabs for refusing to recognize it."
Despite a 1979 peace treaty between Egypt and Israel, the latter is still seen in an overwhelmingly negative light by much of the Egyptian public.
This is due largely to its heavy-handed treatment of the Palestinian people and its ongoing occupation of Arab land.Last Mod: 15 Nisan 2014, 13:12
