An Egyptian court on Saturday sentenced an Egyptian national to 25 years in jail and a woman for 15 years in jail for spying for Israel.

The court also sentenced in absentia two Israeli intelligence officers to 25 years in jail for involvement in the same case.

He said the verdicts still could be appealed.

Investigators accused the Egyptian man and woman of supplying the two Israeli intelligence officers with information about Egypt's internal conditions as well as about a submarines deal Egypt would have signed with Germany.

They also accused the two Egyptian defendants of receiving materials from the Israeli intelligence, including computers, for passing on the aforementioned information.
