Egypt's 50-member constitutional committee on Sunday approved the 247-article draft charter, leaving any possible changes in the army-imposed transitional roadmap to interim President Adly Mansour.
The members thrashed out earlier difference on four contentious articles and approved them.
They had earlier approved the other 243 article.
The committee members, however, failed to agree on a proposed article to amend the roadmap by allowing presidential elections after the referendum on the constitution and before legislative polls.
They decided to leave any change in the roadmap to Mansour.
The draft constitution will be sent to Mansour on Tuesday to call for a public referendum.
The Egyptian military suspended the 2012 constitution – approved last year via popular referendum – when it ousted elected president Mohamed Morsi on July 3.
Amending the charter is the first step of the army-imposed roadmap for the transition phase, which also includes parliamentary and presidential elections, respectively, within nine months.Last Mod: 02 Aralık 2013, 09:48
