Egypt and Saudi Arabia on Tuesday agreed to form a joint military committee to mull the implementation of a military exercise in Saudi Arabia with participation from Gulf states, the Egyptian presidency has said.
It added in a statement that Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi agreed on the formation of the committee during a meeting in Cairo earlier in the day with Saudi Defense Minister Prince Mohamed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz.
The military drill, the presidency said, will be carried out by troops from Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Gulf states.
During his meeting with the Saudi Defense Minister, al-Sisi said Egypt would continue to stand by other Arab states, underlining the importance of the security of the Arab Gulf for Egypt's security, according to a previous statement by the presidency.
