Palestinian government's spokesperson Ihab Hussein said Tuesday Egyptian news media had started a smear campaign against Palestinians, which he said harmed all Gazans.

Speaking at a press conference, Hussein said campaigns led by Egyptian news media were motivated by domestic politics and aimed to discredit the Palestinian people's resistance.

Calling on the Egyptian government to stop the campaign, Hussein stressed Palestine with its poulations of 1.8 million cannot meddle with the internal affairs of a country like Egypt with a population of 90 million.

Hussein also underlined there was no "disconnection" between Palestine and Egypt, adding they held continued negotiations with Egyptian authorities on the issue of the Rafah border gate and the Palestinian detainees in Egypt.

In related news, president of Turkey-Palestine Parliamentary Friendship Group, Murat Yildirim, said Tueday they harshly condemned the closure of Rafah border gate and the military coup in Egypt.

In a press release, Yildirim said suspending the constitution in Egypt and the ouster of the country's first elected President Mohammed Morsi amounted to "cruelty to all humanity".

Yildirim reminded that Morsi had opened the Rafah border gate after assuming office, saying "the very first thing the military junta, which seized power through force and assign a so-called president and prime minister, did was close the Rafah border gate and torture Gazans in the holy month of Ramadan."
