Four people, including an Iraqi soldier, were killed and 12 other people were injured in two explosions in Baghdad Wednesday, a police source said.

In the first improvised explosive device blast near an army patrol in northern Baghdad’s al-Moshahada district, one Iraqi soldier was killed and four other soldiers were injured, the source said.

Another improvised explosive device blast near a vegetables' market in southern Baghdad’s Dora area killed three people and wounded eight others, the source added.

The explosions occurred during the anniversary of Arba'een that commemorates the martyrdom of Imam Hussein Ali who died in the Battle of Karbala.

Arba'een is one of the largest religious gatherings in Iraq that gathers millions of people from across the country in Iraq's Karbala city.
