Free Syrian Army (FSA) United Commandership spokesperson Abdulhamid Zekeriya has warned that the "fire ball" Beshar Al-Assad regime inflamed in Banias could spread to neighboring countries.
Zekeriya told Turkish press that "What Assad did in Banias was an initiative to force Sunnis out of Banias in order to establish groups that are devoted to himself in Latakia, Banias and Tartus".
Warning that the "fire ball" Assad regime inflamed in Banias could spread to neighboring countries, Zekeriya called on the international community and Arab countries "to support armament of dissidents in Syria to avoid the eruption of sect-based wars in neighboring countries.”
Syrian political analyst Nabil Shebib said the Syrian regime had intended to spread the crisis to other countries from the very beginning but accelerated it lately. On the Banias massacre, Shebib said "it was an initiative to involve at least Lebanon in the crisis, by using the sect leverage.”
The National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces claimed more than 150 people, most of whom were women and children, were killed by military forces in the Al-Baida village of Banias. Local sources said the number was at least 700.Last Mod: 08 Mayıs 2013, 10:59
