A Palestinian youth in the northern Gaza Strip was injured on Friday by gunfire emanating from Israeli army troops stationed on the border with Israel.
"A Palestinian in his 20s was wounded in the thigh by shots fired by Israeli occupation forces near the city of Jabalia," Gaza Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qodra told The Anadolu Agency.
"The injured youth was transferred to Kamal Edwan Hospital in the city of Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip," said al-Qodra.
The Israeli army has yet to issue a statement on the incident.
Earlier Friday, Israeli army forces sprayed farmland on the outskirts of Khan Younis and Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip with heavy machinegun fire, causing minor damage to agricultural crops. No injuries were reported.
Israel has conducted several limited incursions into the strip since August 26, when a cease-fire was reached between Palestinian factions and the self-proclaimed Jewish state, ending a seven-week Israeli offensive against the embattled coastal enclave.
The Israeli military onslaught, which lasted from July 7 to August 26, left 2,160 Palestinians dead – the vast majority of them civilians – and some 11,000 injured.
