The Geneva II conference on January 22 will call upon countries from around the world to take in Syian refugees.

Speaking at the 2nd Ministerial Meeting of the Syria-Bordering Countries on Friday, United Nations High Commissioner, António Manuel de Oliveira Guterres, said that countries hosting Syrian refugees are in need of major financial support and urged international community to share the burden of the countries already sheltering Syrian refugees.

"Hosting Syrian refugees is not responsibility of only the bordering countries, all states should open their gates to Syrians fleeing the country," Oliveira Guterres said.

Presided by Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, the Ministerial Meeting of the Syria-Bordering Countries has brought together ministers from Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey, as well as the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.

More than 100,000 people have been killed in the three-year-old conflict in Syria, and over two million Syrians have become refugees in the neighboring countries including Turkey, Lebanon and Iraq, according to the UN.
