Houthi groups seized control over large swaths in the northern directorate of Huth, Amran province, on Sunday after tribesman withdrew following two days of deadly clashes, a tribal source said.

"The Houthis were able to control at least five districts in Huth after tribesmen retreated following disagreements with their leader," the source, who asked to remain anonymous, told Anadolu Agency.

Violence broke out in Huth on Friday and continued to rage into Saturday, leaving at least 63 Houthis and 15 tribesmen dead and 163 others injured, including 110 Houthis.

Friday's violence erupted only a few days after a ceasefire was brokered between the tribesmen and the Houthis following another round of deadly clashes on Wednesday which left three Houthis dead.

Recent weeks have seen violent clashes between Houthis and northern Yemen's tribesmen, with the latter accusing the them of seeking to establish control over their territories.

The Houthis continue to fight pitched battles with both tribesmen and Salafists in several parts of the country, which has been gripped by chaos since the ouster of long-serving president Ali Abdullah Saleh in early 2012 as part of the "Arab Spring" uprisings.
