Iran has executed a business tycoon found guilty of scamming a bank of $2.6 billion.
Mahafarid Amir Khosravi was executed on Saturday morning at Evin prison in northern Tehran, according to state television.
Khosravi, who was convicted obtaining credit using false docments Bank Saderat to purchase state-owned companies such as Khuzestan Steel Co. was given the death sentence along with 39 others.
His lawyer Gholam Ali Riahi denied receiving prior notification before the execution after the Supreme Court upheld his death sentence.
