Head of Center for Innovation and Technology Cooperation of the presidency said: Iran produces and partly exports 14 out of 20 newly-formulated drugs of the world, Mehr News Agency reported. 

Hamid Reza Amirinia stated Sunday at the second national seminar on Tech Management: the number of science-based companies in the bio-tech section totals 180, and we hope it reaches 400.

Regarding knowledge production in the country he said: currently 140 universities and research centers function in Iran, which ranks 14 among 46 countries.

Mentioning the production of new drugs in country, head of the Center for Innovation and Technology Cooperation of the presidency said in another part of his speech: currently 20 newly-formulated drugs are being produced globally, of which 14 are made in Iran, part of them being exported.

Calling Iran’s current circumstances “historic”, Amirinia Said: Iran stands among world’s youngest nations, and it has only 15 years for technological development. Meanwhile funds, facilities, and human resources are needed, so this historic era must be tapped.

He added: if we don’t use this occasion and the human resources, other countries will.

Current sanctions have created a situation like that of the past war, which has enlivened the self-sufficiency and self-worth morale in the country, Amirinia said.
