Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Araqchi said that Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davudoglu has had a phone negotiation with his Iranian counterpart Ali-Akbar Salehi, asking Iran's help in finding and releasing Turkish pilots kidnapped in Lebanon, Mehr reported on August 13.
Araqchi said that Iran doesn't have any information about the kidnapped pilots in Lebanon, but Tehran will do its best to provide assistance to Turkey in this issue.
Two Turkish Airlines (Turk Hava Yollari) pilots were abducted last Friday in Beirut.
Araqchi condemned the abduction of the Turkish pilots, saying Iran would not refrain from helping Turkey if it can.
The pilot and co-pilot of Turkish Airlines, (both Turkish citizens), were abducted by unknown persons while they were heading to a hotel in Beirut by bus.
Responsibility for the kidnapping was claimed by a previously unknown group, Zuwar Al Rida.
At the moment the whereabouts of the pilots is being established. The Lebanese authorities declared that the pilots are likely to be released soon.Last Mod: 13 Ağustos 2013, 13:06
