A Jamaran 2 destroyer produced by the Iranian navy will be delivered to the Iranian navy in the Caspian Sea on Sunday. The ceremony will be attended by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iranian Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi and Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Hassan Firuzabadi, the Iranian FARS agency reported on Saturday.
The Jamaran 1 destroyer was delivered to the Iranian navy in the Persian Gulf in February 2010. It is designed and manufactured by Iranian specialists.
FARS news agency referred to it as 'the largest defence project'.
Jamaran is able to fight with submarines, aircraft and enemy ships. Moreover, the destroyer has a helipad. According to Iranian media, the Jamaran 2 destroyer was produced with the use of next-generation technology. This is an improved version of the Jamaran-1 destroyer.Last Mod: 16 Mart 2013, 16:36
