The former heads rabbi of Iran's 20,000 member Jewish minority, Yousef Hamadani Cohen, died over the weekend aged 98.

After losing his battle with a long illness, the rabbi passed away and was buried on Sunday in Tehran.

Having led the Iranian Jewish community from 1994 to 2007, Cohen continued to serve as a senior rabbi until his death.
