The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) revealed on Sunday that it had arrested three Palestinians who are allegedly members of the ISIL militant group, claiming that the trio had been planning to stage attacks inside Israel.
The agency named the three suspects as Ahmed Shahada, Mohamed Zaro and Qusai Zeib.
It said they are all in their twenties and hail from the West Bank town of Hebron.
The security agency noted that the three Palestinians had formed a cell affiliated with ISIL – the movement that has captured almost 40 percent of Iraq and vast territories in neighboring war-torn Syria – with the aim of attacking Israeli targets, Israel's public radio has reported.
It added that the three men had confessed to charges of planning to assault Israeli troops as well as manufacturing arms and using them.
Israel public radio said the prosecution had presented a list of charges against the three men in preparation for trying them.
The Anadolu Agency could not immediately obtain comments from the suspects or an independent source on the charges leveled against them.
Last month, Israel's Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon said that only scores of Palestinians had joined ISIL.
